The high-pressure liquid refrigerant then flows into the expansion valve or the orifice tube. This component regulates the flow of refrigerant into the evaporator. By restricting the flow, the pressure of the refrigerant is reduced, causing it to expand rapidly. This expansion results in a drop in temperature, making the refrigerant cold.

 

At this point, the cold refrigerant enters the evaporator, which is usually located inside the dashboard of the vehicle. The evaporator acts as a heat exchanger, allowing air to pass through its fins. As the air comes in contact with the cold refrigerant, heat is transferred from the air to the refrigerant, cooling down the air.

 

The refrigerant, now heated, turns back into a gas and goes through the compressor again to repeat the cycle. This continuous circulation of refrigerant and heat exchange between the refrigerant, air, and vehicle components ensures the cooling effect of the car air conditioning system.

The refrigerant now enters the evaporator, situated in the car's dashboard or inside the air conditioning unit.

 

The evaporator is where the magic happens. As the low-pressure liquid refrigerant passes through the evaporator, it absorbs heat from the surrounding air. This heat transfer process cools down the air, which is then blown into the vehicle cabin through the vents, providing a refreshing and comfortable atmosphere. As the refrigerant absorbs heat, it evaporates back into a low-pressure gas state.

 

Finally, the low-pressure gas refrigerant returns to the compressor, where the cycle starts again. The compressor's role is crucial in maintaining the pressure and flow of refrigerant throughout the system, ensuring consistent cooling performance.

 

Although the compressor is an essential part of the air conditioning system, it does not directly release cold air. Instead, it compresses the refrigerant gas, raising its temperature, which is then cooled down through the subsequent processes within the system.
